Our History
About us
We are from Quindío.
We are from the land that rises before the sun.
We are ALTARA.
We were born in the heart of Quindío, Colombia, where green is not a landscape: it is a way of life. Where coffee is not a product: it is heritage, it is livelihood, it is pride.
We are the children of hardworking people. Of families who rise before the sun, who read the sky the way you read a letter, who climb the mountain with empty hands and come down carrying a whole year's harvest. People who know that good things are never rushed: they are planted, tended, waited for, and picked bean by bean, only when they are ready.
That is our truth: behind every cup there are cold dawns, wet earth, hands that work with love, and a patience the world today has almost forgotten. There are entire generations who gave their lives to these mountains so that one morning, in a home far away, someone could drink a coffee that truly tastes of origin.
That is why ALTARA exists: so that work is never lost along the way. To connect the hands that grow it with the hands that hold the cup. So that every coffee bearing our name has a face, a farm, a story. Many profiles, many harvests, many hands — and one single root: Colombia's coffee country.
What we are made of
Five things travel inside every bag.
Connection
A living bridge between the mountain and your table, between the hands that plant and the hands that wake up holding that cup.
Love
For the land, inherited by every family, and felt in the first sip.
Devotion
Rising early, waiting, picking, caring. Every day, without fail.
Continuity
What our grandparents did, what we do today, and what those who come next will keep doing.
Community
Because no one gets here alone. Every cup carries many people, and together we hold each other up.
The palm in our name is no coincidence. It is our root, planted in the word itself — Colombia saying “I am here” on every bag that travels out into the world.
What we want
We don't want to be a purchase.
We want to be a ritual.
The ritual that starts your day. The pause that belongs to you. The moment that repeats and sustains you: morning light through the window, aroma filling the house, the first cup between your hands.
We want to stay there, with you, day after day. Never missing. We want you to be part of this community that begins on Colombian farms and sits down at your table every morning.
So that when you taste our coffee, you feel what we feel: that you come from good land, made by good people, united by love for things done well.
What that means in practice
A story is only worth as much as the coffee behind it.
One farm, one producer
We don't buy anonymous lots. Every release names the farm, the person who grew it, the altitude and the process — and we hand you the cards to tell it.
Roasted in Florida
We roast in small batches in Fort Lauderdale and ship within days of roasting, not weeks. No freight delays, no customs surprises.
Built to repeat
Homes and businesses both run on rhythm. You set the volume and the frequency; keeping you stocked is our job, not yours.
We are ALTARA.
We are work, land and ritual.
